In honor of the year of the Pig here is Checkeboard Piggy. Pigs are so darn cute it's hard not to love them. For color planning I suggest choosing five colors for the border or use your stash for hit or miss. I dyed a special piece of wool for my pigs called Mrs. Piggy. Not too pinky or peachy and light enough. Whatever, your approach this will be a fun rug to hook.
If you are alternating squares with 2 colors I suggest 3/4 of Mrs. Piggy for # 6 cuts and above. If you are just outlining the squares and using 1 color, then order 1.5 yards of Mrs. Piggy.

The first tractor my grandfather purchases was a 1936 Fordson manufactured by Ford in England & Ireland. The name switched to Ford in 1939. This tractor is still in my family. The tractor made the life of a farmer a little easier. Still a hard life and now more efficient. Although I don't own any I enjoy seeing vintage vehicles of all kinds.

Size: 36 in x 24 in. $75.00 | I had an idea for a checkerboard pig, then i got carried away ( or should I say had fun) with the border. So, I did another version with a simpler border for Checkerboard Piggy. The border will take some thought and I suggest a Hexad Color Harmony ( 3 sets of Compliments ) to give you some play with color. It would look amazing to outline everything. Use Mrs. Piggy wool for Mrs. Piggy and either medium Yellow Green 3
( Granny Smith) or Spring Green 4 ( Spring Green) for the background.

I love Vintage Trucks and here I have filled my version with a butterfly bush, vines, flowers and butterflies. This design is representative of my idea of a lovely outing to the nursery in a cool truck! You could hook this in a primitive or traditional style or go fun and funky with textures in the flowers.

Size: 48 in. x 30 in. $120.00 | A group of crows is called a "murder", hence the name. I find it fascinating to watch the birds in my backyard and especially crows. You can have a lot of fun with this rug! The border would be a great place to use up worms from your stash. I've dyed a piece just for the crows in this rug called "Just Crowing". Look in Hand Dyed Wool/Dark/Just Crowing.

This sweet Victorian building was and still is on the farm where I grew up. It has had many uses over the years; a chicken coop, a storage building and playhouse by us among all the farm storage. Recently it has been home to a holstein calf who grew up to be a big boy who will gently slather your face with his big tongue if you let him, a few Jersey calves with their decadently long lashes and baby pigs all watched over by a pair of dogs.
